Chapter 11: Liu Qian’s Pity for Ji Fan

The moment Song Zhen stepped off the stage, she was seized by her senior brother and senior sister.

Seeing their flushed faces, Song Zhen’s mind went straight to the gutter.

Squinting mischievously, she said, “Senior Brother, Senior Sister, could it be that…”

She didn’t finish, but Ji Fan and Liu Qian immediately understood what she meant.

The two of them, perfectly in sync, smacked her at the same time. “Shut up!”

Song Zhen felt two slaps land right on her mouth, and then her lips went numb and she completely lost all sensation.

…Their strength was way too much. Were they trying to slap her to death?!

“You’re doing it on purpose! You’re definitely doing it on purpose!” She touched her lips, feeling like her mouth had disappeared.

Liu Qian held her forehead, speechless. “It’s not us; it’s you talking nonsense! Your Senior Brother and I are completely innocent. He’s not my type at all.”

When Liu Qian said the last part, there was a hint of disdain in her tone.

Hearing that, Ji Fan pointed at himself, dumbfounded. “Senior Sister! Why do you sound so… disgusted?”

“Even if I’m not your type, you don’t have to say it in such a disgusted tone, right? I’m still considered a promising young talent!”

He was quite popular, okay? Senior sisters and junior sisters from other sects liked him too. If he hadn’t been so focused on cultivating, he could’ve found a cultivate partner long ago.

Seeing Ji Fan’s hurt expression, Liu Qian forced a dry smile and awkwardly said:

“That’s not what I meant. I just meant that we’re purely senior-junior siblings. How could I possibly disdain you?”

Song Zhen watched the exchange with delight, practically wanting to grab a handful of sunflower seeds.

Who says a senior-junior romance can’t work? I think it’s perfect.

Fifth Senior Brother Ji Fan’s personality is far too straightforward and innocent. If he really wants to find a cultivate partner, it’d be better to choose someone a bit more mature.

Otherwise, if he pairs up with someone young and equally naive, just imagine the two of them staring at each other with the same wide-eyed innocence — even picturing that scene makes Song Zhen feel it’s utterly unreliable.

Still, Fifth Senior Brother was very caring and responsible, and during this time, she had been looked after quite well.

The two who were arguing suddenly sensed something was off mid-argument. When they turned their heads, they saw Song Zhen happily watching the whole scene unfold.

Seeing her so gleeful, Ji Fan and Liu Qian instantly boiled with anger. This little brat!

Liu Qian pinched Song Zhen’s cheek and asked exasperatedly, “Why did you think your Senior Brother and I were… that kind of relationship?”

She and Ji Fan had grown up together. No one would think they were anything more than siblings. Even if they slept in the same room at night, no one would think anything of it.

What’s going on in that little girl’s mind? No wonder the Master keeps telling us to watch her closely.

Song Zhen’s face was squished out of shape as she slurred:

“Aren’t both of your faces all red? If there’s nothing going on between you two, why would you be blushing and acting so shy?”

Ji Fan couldn’t take it anymore and immediately smacked the back of Song Zhen’s head.

“And you have the nerve to say that! We’re acting all embarrassed because of you! Just look at what you’ve turned everyone else into!”

“After the match, you were still dancing on the stage, wiggling your butt so happily, and you led everyone else completely off track.”

He couldn’t even bear to recall the expressions on the elders’ faces up on the stage. No need to imagine — he already knew what his master would say when he got back.

First, there was no escaping the elders’ questions. Second, correcting all those disciples who had gone astray would definitely be extremely difficult.

If the upright and graceful Sword Sect really got led astray, he couldn’t even bear to imagine what it would turn into.

He guessed even the ancestors who had already ascended would probably come down just to give someone a good beating.

Song Zhen dodged both senior brother and sister’s hands, holding her head, and complained:

“What did I do? I didn’t do anything! I didn’t make them like this.”

“I didn’t make them imitate me! They became like this on their own — how can you dump all the responsibility on me?”

This was just other people’s subjective choices; what did it have to do with her?

Song Zhen felt completely innocent, but at the same time, she was extremely smug about it.

That’s exactly how it should be. What’s the use of being so upright? When it comes to a fight, you’d just end up at a disadvantage.

If it came to a life-or-death situation, being upright would be even more useless. At that point, the main thing to think about is how to survive.

Song Zhen’s brazen, thick-skinned attitude really infuriated the two of them.

Liu Qian took a deep breath to calm herself. Don’t get angry, don’t get angry — it’s normal for children to be a little mischievous.

After all, she spent most of her time in the Law Enforcement Hall; Fifth Junior Brother was the one mainly responsible for disciplining Junior Sister.

Thinking of this, Liu Qin finally felt a bit better.

Luckily, she had made a better choice back then. The Law Enforcement Hall was a bit exhausting, but at least it didn’t involve taking care of children.

Just look at Fifth Junior Brother — so haggard. Taking care of kids really was the hardest work.

Liu Qian even sneaked a glance at Ji Fan. The aura of utter despair radiating from him was honestly quite pitiful.

This Junior Brother used to be so full of vigor and spirit, but now he was a complete unlucky soul — and the kind that practically radiated resentment.

Ji Fan had gotten used to being stressed out, but when he caught Liu Qian’s look of pity, his heart still sank. He was being pitied — how was he supposed to go on living like this?

Liu Qian patted his shoulder and sighed deeply: “Junior Brother, you’ve worked hard lately. Maybe the Master should take care of the junior sister himself.”

The few of them always helped and looked out for each other, and they had never been this mischievous. Their master could rely on them completely, so there really hadn’t been much to worry about.

Perhaps it was because they were so easy to manage that a very lively and mischievous junior sister was sent to join them.

Ji Fan tilted his head and tried to hold back tears, his voice trembling:

“Do you think I don’t want that? The problem is, the Master isn’t here!”
The Master was probably running around the world gathering materials for forging swords.

Seeing her pitiful senior brother, Song Zhen touched her nose and reflected.

Am I really that troublesome? Senior brother must be overreacting…

She thought she’d been obedient, practicing diligently, and though her methods were a little crooked, she hadn’t been lazy.

The Sect Leader, currently rushing around the world, increasingly felt a chill at the back of his neck.

After traveling far and wide just to gather a few materials, he could only howl to the sky:

Did I take on a disciple, or did I adopt an ancestor?!
