1. What we keep
Running a reading platform means keeping more than a blog would. Here is all of it:
- Your account — username, email address, and a securely hashed password (we cannot read it). If you enable two-factor authentication, its secret is stored for your account.
- Your Spirit Stones and ledger — Spirit Stone balances, unlocks, and donation records. Card and wallet details are handled entirely by our payment processors (NOWPayments for crypto, Patreon for pledges); we never see or store card numbers.
- Your reading record — which chapters you have read and where you left off. It powers your reading history and the Guild Rolls. It syncs across your devices, and a copy of your last position also lives in your own browser.
- Your words — comments, reviews, fix suggestions, and messages to support; for creators and editors, the images they file in their team’s drawer.
- How you read and what we show you — reading sessions (time and progress, with anti-fraud checks that may note your connection’s fingerprint), which books we suggested and which you opened, and the mute or “not for me” choices you make. This personalizes your recommendations and attributes revenue to creators fairly; you can correct or silence any suggestion from your dashboard, any time.
- Technical basics — sign-in cookies (essential; the site cannot work without them), and a cookie remembering that you told us you are 18 or older if you did and are not signed in. Your active sign-in sessions are listed in your account settings, where you can end any of them.
- Security records — when you sign in, and from which IP address and browser; the address your account was made from; and security events like failed sign-ins. These are kept for 30 days, then deleted. The address you last signed in from stays on your account until it changes.
- Copies and downloads — to protect creators’ work, we note when a large passage is copied (the account, or the IP address for a visitor, the chapter, and how much) and when a book is downloaded as an EPUB. Copy records are kept for 90 days and download records for 180 days, then deleted.
2. What we do with it
We run the platform: keep you signed in, sync your reading, open what you unlocked, pay creators their posted share, and answer your messages. We personalize your recommendations only from your own reading and your own corrections. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, we do not build advertising profiles, and nothing here is shared for ad targeting.
3. Who else touches it
Only the payment processors named above, and only for payments you start. If a law ever compels disclosure, we comply with the law — nothing more.
4. Your rights
Ask through the contact page and we will show you what we hold about you, correct it, export it, or delete your account. Deleting your account removes your personal data, except two kinds of records: purchase, Spirit Stone and payout records, which bookkeeping requires us to keep, and the security, copy and download records above, which are deleted when their time runs out.
5. Security
Passwords are hashed, payments stay with the processors, and access to reader data is limited to what running the site requires. No one can promise absolute security on the internet; we promise reasonable care and honesty if anything ever goes wrong.
6. Age
The platform is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep their data. If that has happened, tell us and it will be removed. Books for adults open only to readers who tell us they are 18 or older; that answer is kept on your account, or in a cookie on your device if you are not signed in, and you can change it in your settings.
7. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on the site before it takes effect. The current version always lives at this address.
