Chapter 18: Female Ghost: “You’re All Shameless”

The two senior sisters gradually withdrew from the battlefield.

Watching the fierce duel between the girl and the ghost in front of them, they were utterly confused. How could the fight be so evenly matched? The ghost’s cultivation was far higher than theirs, yet Song Zhen didn’t fall behind at all.

The ghost couldn’t even touch a hair on Song Zhen, and Song Zhen could only manage sneaky strikes; she couldn’t defeat the ghost outright.

Just as the Senior sisters pondered how to rejoin the fight, a shout came from behind:

“Get out of the way! Move quickly!”

The two sisters instinctively dodged. Song Zhen saw a senior brother rushing forward, holding a basin of some unknown substance. She immediately teleported aside.

The next moment, the basin was dumped over the ghost.

“AAAA! It burns! What the hell is this?!”

The ghost clutched her face, screaming in unbearable pain, her cries sharp and piercing. Everyone could sense her suffering.

Seizing the opportunity, they drew their swords and formed a formation:

“Filthy ghost, today we will subdue you!”

Though their techniques weren’t from any famous orthodox sect, they worked.

After being bound, the female ghost’s face was badly burned. It was unclear how they had managed to make that strange basin of liquid.

Even while restrained, she kept cursing, “And to think you’re supposed to be from a righteous sect, yet you resort to such lowly, despicable tricks!”

“They say sword cultivators are upright, but all of you are nothing but hypocrites. You don’t dare face me openly—you can only rely on these underhanded moves. Bah!”

If the other senior brothers and sisters had heard her words, they might have been genuinely angered.

Unfortunately, the more powerful disciples weren’t around, and these few didn’t care about reputation anyway.

Song Zhen grinned smugly and said, “Keep cursing. Let’s see how many dirty words you can come up with. It’ll be good practice for us to learn a few insults too.”

It was a perfect opportunity to “educate” the senior brothers and sisters. Although they had changed quite a bit, their faces were still thin-skinned.

Learning a few curses could come in handy later when arguing with others, so people wouldn’t always say that sword cultivators only know how to fight with their swords.

After all, sometimes it’s good to fight with words as well as fists. Right now was the perfect time to practice.

Song Zhen’s attitude was enough to make the female ghost roll her eyes in sheer exasperation.

Watching her, Song Zhen sighed. “I thought you were a master at cursing. Turns out it only took a few words to get yourself this riled up. Good thing you’re already dead, or you’d have exploded from your own fury.”

The female ghost shouted, “Shut up! If you didn’t talk, no one would treat you like a mute!”

Where on earth did this weirdo come from? Was this group of sword cultivators secretly practicing the wrong path?

Outside, Senior Brother Bi and his two companions were getting worried.

“Why haven’t they come out yet? Could something have happened?” Bi knew the juniors’ level too well.

Normally, ghosts in here wouldn’t trouble them, but this group of disciples were mischief incarnate, already thoroughly skewed by their own tendencies.

Finally, as they were about to check inside, Song Zhen and her team emerged, looking triumphant. Their posture alone showed they hadn’t suffered a loss.

The red-clothed ghost trailing behind, bound, looked pitiful.

Song Zhen had also learned what had been poured on the ghost and now regarded her with visible disgust.

It had to be said—the senior brothers were still senior brothers, experienced and knowledgeable.

An object of utmost yang energy could naturally break a formation, and it could also counter a female ghost. On top of that, they had magical treasures on them, which they were able to combine into the attack. That’s what caused such severe damage to the ghost.

“Senior brothers, we’ve completed the mission perfectly. The ghost has been subdued!” Song Zhen ran up cheerfully to claim credit.

Bi nodded. “Good work. Well done. Tell me, what sword techniques did you use? Did you apply everything you learned?”

Everyone lowered their heads. How could they answer? Except for the final formation maneuver, they hadn’t used any sword techniques at all. The ghost’s subjugation had been thanks to their cleverness and resourcefulness—not swordplay.

The ghost began complaining immediately:

“They didn’t use swords at all! They used child urine on me! Are disciples of your righteous sect really this shameless now?!”

The three senior brothers: ??? What did you just say? They used what?

Song Zhen had already quietly ducked behind the other disciples. If the sky fell, the tall ones would bear it—she was short, so she wasn’t getting involved in this mess.

The female ghost continued her complaint: “This is the urine they poured on me! Disgraceful disciples of the Righteous Sect, actually urinating in public—utterly shameless!”

“In public? We were hiding, thank you very much. It’s not like you actually saw us,” a baby-faced senior brother immediately retorted.

They had hidden inside a building; there was no way she could have seen them.

Song Zhen behind them was shaking with laughter, barely able to hold it in.

To be fair, she really hadn’t seen what the senior brothers were doing — at that moment, she had been fully engaged in the fight.

Senior Brother Bi’s mouth twitched, utterly speechless.

Senior Brothers Li and Chen were already questioning reality, their expressions dazed. Did they just hear that right? This is… actually true?

Senior Brother Li clutched his chest, suddenly feeling a tightness in his heart.

Among this group, one was his junior disciple—a direct junior! If word of this got out, how could their sect branch ever show its face? It would be utterly humiliating!

Senior Brother Chen wasn’t faring any better; he had his own junior disciple here as well.

One of the main reasons these two had been assigned to the protection mission was precisely to keep an eye on their own juniors.

Watching the three of them go blank with embarrassment, the female ghost grew even more enthusiastic, adding all sorts of exaggerations.

Soon the scene erupted into chaos: on one side, the ghost was embellishing and fabricating stories, and on the other, they were desperately trying to refute and set the record straight.

It was lively, but unfortunately, there were no phones to record it—otherwise, Song Zhen would have.

“What do you mean we came out without pants and attacked you? Watch your words, ghost!”

The ghost shouted back: “Watch what? It’s true! You’re all shameless!”

Song Zhen: “Mm-hmm, shameless.”

Everyone immediately turned to her, shouting in unison:

“Which side are you on?!”

“Oh, sorry, sorry, my mistake,” Song Zhen realized she had sided with the wrong side. The noise had confused her into standing in the wrong place.

The three senior brothers looked up at the chaotic scene, their expressions equally weary and exasperated.
